Obituary of Gary J. Gabrys

(Gasport)  Gary J. Gabrys age 59 died September 14, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  He was born September 7, 1959 in Kenmore, NY, a son of Joseph and Esther (Drotter) Gabrys and had lived in this area all of his life.

Gary was president of Gasport Wood Products where he worked for many years creating beautiful cabinetry.  He enjoyed the outdoor especially fishing and hunting with his father at their camp in the Southern Tier.  Gary was most proud of the 8 point buck he shot when he was 13 years old and for the bear he shot in 2006.  He loved spending time with his family, he especially adored his grandson Bryson who was “papa’s little helper”, helping plant his vegetable garden or mowing the lawn and was always there for snuggles and ice cream.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Lori of 44 years; his son James (Ashley Williams) Gabrys; his daughter Hallie Gabrys both of Gasport; grandson Bryson and grandbabies on the way; brothers Joseph (Cynthia) Gabrys of Lockport, Timothy (Veronica) Gabrys of Gasport; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Debra (Jay) Moore of FL, Lisa (Donald) Smith of CO, Edwin (Dawn) Winkley of Middleport, Karen (Mike) Punch of Middleport; mother-in-law Ada Winkley of Middleport; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his father-in-law Edwin Winkley, Sr.

The family will receive friends at the Middleport Fire Department, 28 S. Main St. Middleport NY 14105 on Saturday September 22nd from 2:00pm-5:00pm where his Memorial Service will follow at 5:00pm.  Memorials may be made to the organization of one’s choice.
