Obituary of Kenneth C. Marks
Kenneth C. Marks entered into rest November 1, 2018 at Buffalo General Medical Center Gates Vascular Institute. Born in Lockport February 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard G. Marks and N. Jane (Schultz) Marks-Seekins. Predeceased also by his stepfather, Milton L. Seekins, Jr. Ken is survived by his loving, devoted wife Sandra, on September 28, 2018 they celebrated 50 years of marriage. He is also survived by daughter, Michelle (Daniel) Hook and son, Eric S. Marks. Ken was very proud of his grandchildren as they loving referred to him as “Pa”. Zachery Hook, Natalie Hook, Ava Marks and Keegan Marks. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Diane (Don) Taddie, nephew Bryan (Torey) Karijanian and niece Kim Karijanian and several cousins.
Ken served in the US Army for two years and worked for Met Life and various retail stores esp. Kenyons Variety as manager. He also worked as a cost analyst at Kohler Machine and Manufacturing. Ken loved Golf! Especially with step-father Milt and his son Eric. He was proud that he scored a hole-in-one in 1992.
Ken coached many youth programs, esp. Basketball for the YMCA. He was instrumental in establishing after school program at the YMCA. After retirement Ken enjoyed teaching youth how to play golf at Niagara County Golf Course during the summer. He played in the Lock City Golf League with the “Good Old Boys”. He was also a member, secretary and former Club Flight Champion at Chestnut Meadows Golf Club.
Ken was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Middleport, NY, where he served as S.S. Teacher & S.S. Superintendent and also served on many church committees, most recently as church treasurer.
The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St. Middleport, Sunday November 4, from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00. Ken’s Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 122 Telegraph Rd. (Rt.31) Middleport, NY on Monday November 5, at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will follow at Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, 5317 Royalton Center Rd. Middleport. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
