Obituary of Arlene R. Snyder
Arlene R. Snyder of Alabama, recently of Applegate Manor in Medina, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019. She was born April 18, 1933 in Alabama to the late Raymond and Bessie (Newton) Smith and would remain in the area her entire life.
Arlene was a longtime member of the Alabama-Basom United Methodist Church and was also influential in quilting prayer shawls for community members in need of prayers. She was also a founding member of the Alabama Jolly Seniors. Arlene worked for many years as the Office Manager of Peterson Drug Stores and in her spare time enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leland "Jack" Snyder in 2004, and sister, Dolores Dennis.
Arlene is survived by her children, Gary (Donna) Snyder, Brenda (Mark) Sherwood, granddaughter, Melissa Snyder, brother and sister-in-law, Leo (Janice) Snyder as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St. Middleport, NY 14105 on Thursday, January 17th from 4:00-7:00pm. Arlene’s funeral service will be held at the Middleport United Methodist Church, 9 Park Ave. on Friday, January 18th at 11:00am. Interment in Alabama Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorials in Arlene’s name may be made to the Middleport United Methodist Church or to the Alabama-Basom United Methodist Church 1392 Church St. Alabama, NY 14013.
