Obituary of Helen H. Godfrey

Middleport: Helen H. Godfrey, age 93, died January 23, 2019 in Orchard Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a long illness. 

She was born May 18,1925 in Punxsutawney, PA to Hugh and Ida (Hall) Edmondson and had lived in the Western New York area most of her life.  Helen was a long-time member of the Middleport United Methodist Church and as a faithful woman, read her bible twice a day.

She was a person who was full of life which could be seen through her magnificent smile.  That smile was on full display when she was spending time enjoying being with her family as Helen was a very social person. She also enjoyed travelling in earlier years, particularly to Florida with her husband. 

Mrs. Godfrey was predeceased by her husband Almond, and her 11 siblings. 

She is survived by her sons: Thomas (Pauline) Godfrey of Co, Michael Godfrey of Lyndonville, Dennis (Shari) Godfrey of Middleport, daughters: Diane (the late Philip) MacDonald of Lyndonville, Sharon (Jeffery) Hill of Middleport, several grandchildren, great -grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street-Middleport, SATURDAY February 2nd from 2-2:30 pm where her Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:30 pm. 

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Lynhaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Buffalo, NY, 14221.
