I remember growing up and going to Bernie's, riding his tractor and eating his pickles. Bernie was always friendly. He will be missed.

I will miss my Uncle Bernie. He was a strong figure in my youth, with a lot of wit and wisdom to impart. Whether it was taking me trout fishing in the Naples Derby, sharing his love of gardening with me, or teaching me to fell trees and cut firewood, he was generous with his time, and those are fond, formative memories for me. He and Aunt Ruby were fixtures in my life growing up, and I hope they are together again in peace. Uncle Bernie enjoyed telling a story (often with clever twists) as much as anyone I have known. He had a unique insight into big issues, was firmly principled in his positions ("stubborn Robertson" ring a bell with anyone?), and was keenly interested in world events/politics, and was a true patriot. This is a difficult goodbye for me.

My husband and I have had the pleasure of being Bernie's neighbor for the past 20 years. We were able to witness the true love between Bernie and Ruby before she sadly passed away. After Ruby's passing we would visit Bernie and he would share their love story as well as several other events from his life. He had a memory that couldn't be challenged and a heart of gold. We will miss him dearly but know that he is now with his true love again.

Bernie is one of niceness men I have known, he loved to chat, tell stories, he loved his son,he also loved my kids. But most of all Bernie loved Ruby. If you were his friend- you could do no harm. Bernie loved to help his friends & did so to many. Bernie served his Country in one of the most dangerous ways--"Submarines". He had more then his share of close calls. At times Bernie could be a little opinionated but he was a hell of a good Plumber.
Bernie will be missed!

To my wonderful Father-in-Law Bernie you will be missed more that you will ever know. I am so happy that God finally called you home so that you can be reunited with Ruby, your Tootie. Rest in peace knowing that Russ, Jeff, Candace and I will be ok here without you. We love you forever.
