Obituary of Robert Francis Sherman

Robert Francis Sherman, age 89 of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport. Born August 2, 1924 in Lockport, Robert is the son of the late Claude and Jessie (Weaver) Sherman. Robert married Sophie Kowalczyk on August 21, 1948 at St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Church in Olcott. Mrs. Sherman died January 27, 2006. Robert worked at Frontier Stone in Lockport as a machine operator. He enjoyed spending time with family, farming, playing cards and racing stock cars at Ransomville Speedway. He had lived in Lockport for the past 6 years, previously of Newfane. Father of: Donald (Barbara) Sherman of Newfane, Janice (Fred) Cleveley of Newfane, Susan (Gerald) Way of Lockport, David (Carolynn) Sherman of Gasport, Sandy (John) Shufelt of Middleport and the late Wayne Sherman. Brother of: Dorothy, Evelyn, Betty and the late Richard, Claude Jr., Marjorie and Carol. Nine grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson also survive Robert. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Cemetery, Newfane, NY.
