Obituary of Gary R. Mahar

Gasport: Gary Richard Mahar, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born April 16, 1951 in Lockport to the late Joseph and Mary Mahar.

Gary was an active member of the Gasport Fire Co. and an EMS driver for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and boating enthusiast. He was a retiree from Harrison Radiator where he worked for 30 years. Gary was always a fun-loving friend to everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Don and Kenneth.

Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Pat, daughters, Patty Mahar and Maryjane Gominiak, sister, Carol Reeson, grandchildren, Sarah Mahar, Dilan Gominiak, Mason Gominiak, sisters-in-law, JoAnn and Helen Mahar, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY 14067 on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00-12:00 where his Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Gary’s name may be made to your local fire department or first responders.
