As you know, Cheryl, we never know when our time will come but a life fully lived for the Lord (as Jim lived) somehow makes the time appropriate. But, O how hard the loss upon our hearts to be cheated of one we love. May the promises of Jesus Christ give you comfort and sustain you through your grief and know that you returned a gift borrowed from God home to his creator.
May God continue to bless you through the love that comes from us all.

The Olcott UMC send deepest condolences to Jim's family. Jim pastored our church for many months. He went above & beyond the call of duty as a pastor, friend, and handyman. He was also devoted to prison ministry. Never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He loved animals, had a great sense of humor, and will be sadly missed by us all.

Jim was always there for Seneca Street Church and for me.
He came out many times to fix wiring problems, rewire the Teen Room and improve our internet network.
He put together a team to serve dinner to our neighbors several times and preached for me when I needed a break.
Just last week, I got instructions and advice on an electrical problem at home.
As always, he was right on the money.
He was passionate about serving the Lord,
in love with his wife,
eager to make re-enactment events work out,
and the best friend dozens of animals could ever have.
Jim was a character and one of a kind!

We all want to offer our prayers, along with those of a grateful reenacting community, for all sacrifice Jim made in service of the LORD and our Ranger Company and Battalion.
The Bible says "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." I believe that God will shed his blessings on you at this time. These are times when our Faith is tested the most, and yet it is Faith that will see us through the sorrow and agony of this tragedy.
I know that your faith will keep you strong. Please know that the prayers of so many people are with you and your wonderful family. I hope that you can find some solace in knowing that your loss is shared so deeply.
I pray that God gives you the grace to carry on. You can be proud of Jim and his faithful service to the LORD.

I would like to say thanks to Jimmy Brown for all that he meant to the members of Schroth's New York Company and Jaegers' Battalion. Jim was the heart and "stomach" (cook) of our company of reenactors. Jim was the gunsmith of the Battalion and held the rank of Captain-Lt. In the N Y Co., Jim was a friend, confidant, soldier, husband, officer, Gunner, cadence caller, cook, sailor, infantryman, joyfull, a dog Barker, a helper, but mostly he was and is my friend. I shall see him in Glory. He has set the standard for us all. My heart goes out to Cheryl and the family. I am so grateful to have seen him and lift just one more pot of oatmeal with Jim at Fort Niagara. Jim,... The New York Company "flips" for YOU. Than Youu and the Lord for your impact on my life.

Though Jim was a few years younger than I am, I remember him well. He and his parents and sister were very visible and active at our church growing up. His parents and mine were good friends and my dad, Warren Wallace, was very fond of Jim. Jim and Ernie were very active in the Mens' Group at our Methodist church and my dad always raved about the breakfasts they would fix. Dad enjoyed working side by side with Ernie and Jim on those breakfasts. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Along with his parents, I believe my father is giving Jim a warm welcome to Heaven. My deepest sympathies to his family. I'm sure my 98 year old mother, Anna, would want to be included in this message as well.

Then, in your mercy,

His ministry was not limited to the church, he truly lived his faith. He was active not only in the Emmaus ministry, he also was very active in and got me involved in the Kiaros prison ministry, which was truly a wonderful experience. He was always cheerful and I will miss him greatly. However, he has gone on to his reward.
