Brenda, Jeremy, Jonathan, Tyler, and extended family ---- I was so very shocked to see Jon's photo and write-up in the Pennysaver. He had a heart of gold and led his life always giving immensely to others, and through this, he was a tremendous mentor and leader for others. You have been so blessed to have such a wonderful man in your lives as has his Fire Dept family. I pray for you as you navigate this phase of your lives and figure out how to keep your balance and put one foot in front of the other. God Bless You and help you find strength, love, and understanding.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire DeYoung family on the loss of Jon. Jon and I were in a lot of classes together all during high school and graduated in '83. He was always happy and willing to help others if needed and was a friend to everyone he came in contact with. So sad to hear of a fellow classmate passing at such a young age.
My Deepest Condolences

Brenda & Family:
Our hearts go out to you and the family. We are so sorry to hear of Jon's passing; but know that he is no longer suffering. He fought long and hard to stay with his family for as long as he did. Jon was such a great friend and inspiration to many people, and beautiful memories will fill the hearts of many. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you move forward without your loved one by your side. I'm sure he'll be taking care of you from above.
Love.....Jeanne (Campbell) & Tom Apeland

Jon was a great guy. My step son and your son played football together. I lived in Clarendon and was an Exempt fire fighter from Chili. We talked now and then. Rip end of watch. Your brothers and sisters have it from here. Ron Hagberg Chili Fd.

I was so very sorry to learn of Jon’s passing. Our paths crossed often during his tenure as the Clarendon Fire Chief and mine as Undersheriff of Orleans County. Those interactions on matters of mutual concern were always positive. Jon also served for a time as a Public Safety Dispatcher in the 9-1-1 Center. He was a valued employee.
My sincere sympathy to Jon’s family during this difficult time.

I remember when Jon was born. I used to spend a week or so with my Aunt Sharon & Uncle Dick over summer vacation. As aunt Sharon probably remembers I was glued to taking care of my younger cousins on those visits.
What I will always remember most about Jon is how strong and positive his attitude was throughout his cancer battle. Although today is very sad, I see his big smile and feel his positive outlook. May you RIP cousin. My heart goes out to you Brenda & your children, Aunt Sharon, and his older brothers (& families) Jeff & Jim. All my love Diane & Norm.

Mavrick will miss his papa so much. We all will miss you. We love you so much. I am so sad that your fight has come to an end but I am also relieved you are no longer in pain. You can now rest easy and watch over us. Please visit us often like Grandma Greene. I know you will be around us. Your legacy will continue on in your 3 boys and your grandkids. We will make sure Audrey and Mavrick remember you and any other grandbabies know who you were. Thank you for giving us the time you did and for fighting for as long as you did. You put up one hell of a fight and although I am so upset you were taken from us, I pray that there is a cure one day. We will truly miss you every single day ❤
