Obituary of Richard R. Barthel

(KENDALL) Richard R. “Rick” Barthel, age 61, died June 6, 2020 in Highland Hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 8, 1958 in Rochester to Christian and Johanna (Harris) Barthel and was a life-long resident of this area. Rick was a graduate of the Kendall Central School District and worked as a printer for Cryovac in Rochester. He enjoyed fishing, and was an admirer of all things MOPAR. It seemed as though he was always on a lawnmower or behind a snowblower, helping anyone in the neighborhood that needed a hand…always taking care of everyone else. He loved the outdoors but the greatest joy of his life was his children and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents Christian Barthel and Johanna (Harris) McMullen, Mr. Barthel was predeceased by his brother Charles and his step-father Larry McMullen. He is survived by his daughters: Jessica (Jason) Scozzafava of N. Tonawanda, Angela (Chuck Kelly) Barthel of Cheektowaga, his siblings: Nanci (Bill) Bogan of Batavia, Russ (Jeanine) Barthel of Kendall, Don (Lisa) Barthel of Holley, Catherine (Pete) Loran of Kent, Cynthia Merkley of Kendall, his grandchildren: Danielle, Austin, Coby, Kaira, Payton, Grayson as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with interment in Greenwood Cemetery-Kendall.
