Where to begin. Ed is a difficult friend to write about as there are so many good memories and too little space. He was a long-time family friend and a frequent (tor)mentor to my Dad. His frequent visits during Dad's heart issues always brought good cheer and smiles all around. I'll always fondly remember working as a maître d' at Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston during college. Surrounded by anxious patrons and with a wait of 2+ hours, who walks in but Ed and his entourage. I was somehow able to quickly sneak them into a prime window table and treat them to a couple bottles of wine to offer a bit of payback to a man who was always giving. We spoke of that event for many years after.
Masonically, Ed was both a mentor and cheerleader for me. Always ready to help me with ritual and advice, he was a beacon to follow. From his unique necktie style to our frequent pre or post-meeting sojourns with Vince Printup, brother Harold E., and others, I was the new Mason-in-tow and always felt privilaged to be included in their group. The encouragement I always received from Ed was greatly responsible for the successes I've had so far in Masonry. He was a figure to emulate and a character to remember.
You'll be missed, Ed, and never forgotten. Your memories and stories live on.
Our deepest and most heart-felt condolences to the family.
