We are so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We have wonderful memories of visiting your home when we were in Albion, swimming in the pool, and having lunch and snacks. Pat always welcomed us with open arms and made us feel loved. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. She was a very special person!

Pat was a very special lady. She was one of the first community persons I spoke with, regarding the concept of a Hospice Residence in Albion. Her personal story was truly an inspiration for me and her encouragement and enthusiasm for the project never wavered. It was an honor to know her....please know Brad, that my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers to Brad and David and Family on the loss of your wife, mother and Grandmother.
Mrs. Shelp was such a sweet , wonderful Lady! I feel so incredibly honored to have known Mrs. Shelp; both through my husband and as a volunteer in the Elementary School Library when my children were little. I will miss her warm hugs and smiles we exchanged throughout the years. She was truly a treasure!

Pat was truly a very special person that touched so many lives young and old. I remember when I had Pat in elementary school. I loved the days that I had a session with her. Then our daughter had her for her third grade teacher. She was her favorite teacher and is one of the reasons she became a teacher herself. She will truly be missed, she is one of those people you will always fondly remember and remain in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Pat was a very unique person who knew how to make you feel that were special in her eyes! No words can describe how wonderful she was as a teacher, librarian and friend. Her ability to connect with any and all students was amazing! My heart aches for Brad, her son and grandchildren! Personally, I am happy Pat was a Christian woman.

One of the most well respected, kind, and creative woman that made the Elementary Library her own for many years. She will be remembered for her love of children, her continuous smile, and instilling a love for books. Mrs. Shelp was truly a one of a kind gem of a person who left her mark in the lives of many.

Mrs. Shelp lived down the street from me when I was growing up in the ‘90s. I recall waking the dog many times, passing by her working in the garden. She always was enthusiastic to see young ones, like on Halloween when she had a line of visitors outside her home. To this day I can still hear her voice reading books to my kindergarten class in the library. She had that special gift so many teachers seek in the profession, and I find it wonderful to think she had touched us all in so many ways.

Mrs. Shelp was a lovely lady and her influence played a part in me becoming a teacher. Volunteering in her classroom she showed me what it meant to be a kind, caring, and fun teacher. I carried her lessons with me throughout my career. My condolences to the family on the loss of a wonderful woman.

This is my first time ever posting to a tribute wall on a site for someone, but I want you to know, Brad and all grieving this loss, what an impact Mrs. Shelp (I can't call her Pat!) made in my life. My earliest memory of her was her reading "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" or "Where the Wild Things Are" or "The Giving Tree" to one of my classes in the Albion Primary School library. She made enough of an impression on me that I asked her to participate in my ordination service when I was ordained a Presbyterian pastor in 2006. She was kind, caring, and loving. On behalf of myself and all the students whose lives she touched, my prayers and love are with you all.

Brad and family, you are on my heart and in my prayers. You don’t need me to say what a wonderful, loving practicing Christian Pat was.
But I have to express what an impact she had on so many lives. I watched her with my students and others, and she was the epitome of what a teacher should be. They knew how much she loved them and gained such knowledge from her as well. No one could tell or read a story like she did!
She also impacted the lives of many adults. I am one of them. I could never put into words what she taught me, how she listened and counseled so wisely, and how much she genuinely cared for and loved others. She was sought after by many and always made time for others.
I can’t wait to see her once again in eternity with Jesus!
May that comfort you all to know that Christians reunite forever! With love and prayers, Joyce Foley
