Betty oh Betty,
I have been pondering all day on what to write about her. She was such a wonderful caring woman, like a second mother to me. I have known her for many years, but didn’t seal our bond until I became a teenager. My parents got divorced and she, more less took me in – as I said - like a second mother. I remember stopping by her home around dinner and she would always have a plate for me. And she insisted that I come by every day - her wishes honored 3 or 4 times a week.
We had some of the best times privately sharing laughs sipping on a beer at the White Elephant. She was one of the only adults that knew I was under age, yet didn’t have a problem with me having a drink - as long as I bought my own beer. LOL
Coming home from wherever, if I saw her car at the White Elephant, I would stop by to spend some time with her because it would always be a good time shared together, filled with laughter. I wish I had some specific stories to tell about her, but simply being with her was just special in and of itself. We hung out like you kind of do with your “cool” parents. I did go out on my own and raise hell, as I’m sure she did in her younger years too. We didn’t treat each other as a parent/kid, we were just two friends during a very challenging time in my life.
I guarantee you she does not want anyone crying or weeping over her casket. She would want you to drink a beer standing around her grave, happy, laughing, telling stories and if you spilled a little on her, that would be fine... Now I’ve made myself cry as I treasure her memories!
Betty, we all will miss you more than each of us can imagine and I look forward to seeing you later and sharing a beer together again. RIP

My deepest sympathy. I remember clam bakes at Aunt Betty's house on creek road. She was one fun lady!

So many beautiful memories! Playing with the laundry chute on creek rd, chatting with you about life, eating your pizzles, learning how to clean properly, sharing truffles, bashing talk shows, and so much more. You were such a blessing in my life. Love you Aunt Betty, God has another angel to look down on us.
