Obituary of Patricia A. Hardenbrook

Patricia A. Hardenbrook, age 82, died July 5, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family. 

She was born March 25, 1937 in Hamlin to William and Marion (Strussenberg) Ophardt and had lived in this area her entire life. 

Pat was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall, the Kendall Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and served several terms as Chairwomen of the Orleans County Republican Committee.  She worked as a nurse from 1957-1963 at both Albion and Brockport hospitals prior to joining the Orleans County Department of Social Services.  Pat worked in virtually every position in that department from 1963 to include serving as DSS Commissioner in 1982 until her retirement in 1993.  Along with her husband, she was a Licensed Insurance Broker from 1971-1999 and was named Orleans County Women of the Year in the early 90’s.  Pat enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, knitting, crocheting, golfing and playing cards.  Mrs. Hardenbrook was predeceased by two sisters: Norma Durrant and Mary Lusk. 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Cole, her son: William (Dorrie) Hardenbrook of Kendall, daughter: Jan (Mark) Spates of FL, her grandchildren: Cole (Colleen), Jason (Elicia), and Bryan (Brianna) Hardenbrook, Luke (Kayla) Spates, her great-grandchildren: Paige, Ethan, Paul, Brynn, Brenton, Abigail, her sister: Shirley Ophard of Hamburg as well as several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. #31-Holley, FRIDAY July 12th from 6-9 p.m. 

Family and friends are invited to attend Pat’s Funeral Service SATURDAY July 13th at 2 p.m. in Concordia Lutheran Church, 1769 Kendall Rd., Kendall, NY, 14476.  Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church at the address listed previously in this notice.
